A Year of Silence and Reslience

It’s been a year

Since the war began,

The massacre unfolding

Before our helpless eyes.

It’s been a year

Since schools were turned to rubble,

Along with the innocence of children,

Their laughter silenced by fear.

It’s been a year

Since homes were reduced to dust,

But the spirit of the people

Refuses to be buried beneath the ruins.

It’s been a year

Since a mother whispered

To her lifeless child,

Wrapped in a shroud of white.

It’s been a year

Since the desperate cry

Of a girl on the phone,

Begging to be saved.

It’s been a year

Since a father sat

On the rubble of his home,

Clutching a lonely teddy bear.

It’s been a year

Since a boy gathered

What remained of his brother,

In a bag too small for the loss.

It's been a year

Their suffering still fresh,

Their voices still pleading,

For salvation, for mercy, for life.

It’s been a year

Since places of worship crumbled,

Yet the faith of the people stands strong,

Unwavering, unbroken by the destruction.

And yet, amidst the tears and rubble,

The people of Palestine stand tall,

Their resilience unshaken,

Their hope burning bright against the darkness.

We pray for their safety,

We pray for their peace,

We pray for their freedom,

We pray for a free Palestine.
